History

Inferni is one of the longest-running clans of 'Souls, existing in Bleeding Souls from October 2002 until April 2008. When the fire destroyed the former territories, Inferni was the only group of the former lands to survive the journey over the mountains, and the only group to reform on this side of the mountain range.

Inferni's history is rich and laden with numerous conflicts; anyone wishing to establish themselves firmly into the clan would be wise to seek out a long-time member knowledgeable in Inferni's story.

Short Version

Inferni was formed after several coyotes wound up in the original Bleeding Souls territory at the same time. From their loner beginnings, these coyotes banded together loosely at first, nearly crumbling several times before the simultaneous influx of several bloodlines -- Mogotsi, Massacre, de le Poer, and Lykoi -- resurrected the clan. Many of these families remain firmly entwined in Inferni to this day, and to discover Inferni's past, one must also encounter these major players.

Although Inferni was founded as a coyote clan -- Kaena Lykoi might have been the only hybrid among the founding canines -- thanks to these bloodlines, the clan steadily shifted to a more wolfish, hybridized population.

Now, purebred coyotes are generally in the minority. The policy of retaining coyote blood is well-respected, however, and anyone found of unsuitable coyote percentage is not allowed to join the clan unless special circumstance permits it.

In 2008, when the great fires struck and obliterated the former territories, Inferni was the only group to survive the trek over the mountain. They prevailed largely due to Gabriel de le Poer's "foresight" of the fire, as well as a passage through the mountain rather than over it.

Following their 2008 re-founding, the clan was subject to various tensions with packs such as Dahlia de Mai and Phoenix Valley. The tension with Dahlia culminated in two full-scale wars between the packs, the most recent of which took place in early 2010.

The coyotes remain generally wary of wolves, and they do not hesitate to attack trespassers on sight in some cases. They are not, however, vicious troublemakers as some might believe; Inferni does not seek to facilitate tension between any of the packs. It's likely their extreme regard for trespassers as well as recent trouble with some of the packs that continues their harsh reputation despite longtime leader Gabriel's attempts to erase the clan's infamy.

Upon his retirement, his son Ezekiel became Inferni's Aquila. He has proven to be more subversive than his father, and has formed an alliance of sorts with neighbor Salsola. After losing both of his subleaders in October 2011, Ezekiel became far more aggressive in arming and training Inferni's members for combat. The fall and winter of 2011 saw a growth of membership, and with it, the upper ranks began to fill. Members proved themselves left and right, though the Aquila began to behave strangely. A non-pack member was partitioned as a spy, and Inferni’s own Zana was sent to Anathema to scout out the inner-workings of the pack. With the rise of a new neighbor to the north, Inferni finds themselves surrounded and buckles down to prepare for the worst.
