Outsider Relations
Trespassers
Inferni does not take kindly to trespassers -- several Inferni members view trespassing as an invitation to attack, and they will not hesitate to shed blood. Coyote territory is their private property and is defended as such.
Outsiders
Most members of the clan will not act aggressively when encountered outside of Inferni territory; most members prefer not to stir up trouble. Some members frequently trade with Loners and between other packs, maintaining active inter-group friendships.
In the past, the coyotes have regarded entire groups of wolves as either friendly or the enemy -- in the past, a tentative alliance was formed between Jaded Shadows and Inferni, based mostly on the relationship between Kaena Lykoi and Fatin Kali.
However, the coyotes have considered both the defunct groups Phoenix Valley and Dahlia de Mai enemies.
Visitors
All visitors must be accompanied by a current Inferni member. The Inferni member must supervise the visitor; any infractions or harm that comes to Inferni at the visitor's hand is the responsibility of their guardian.
In general, your character should not bring anyone onto the clan lands unless they trust that character entirely. Remember, whatever your visitor does on clan territory, your character will be held responsible.
- Outsiders and Tirones Minor are not permitted to have visitors on Inferni's territory.
Prominent Families
Members of Inferni are frequently blood-related, either via direct relationships like father and daughter or more distant relations, such as cousins, aunts, and uncles. Inferni has also been referred to as a "mafia" thanks to their extensive familial connections; in early Spring of 2008 every single member of Inferni was related in some way.
Many of Inferni's coyotes descend from the Lykoi and de le Poer bloodlines, as well as the Massacre and Mogotsi lines.
Hierarchy
Within Inferni, there are varying degrees of comradery between the members. Especially violent fighting between members is discouraged, and leaders will attempt to stop such fights.
Inferni does not typically adhere to wolfish standards of respect and submission, and a higher-ranked coyote will rarely assert his or her dominance without reason, nor will a lower-ranked coyote display submission excessively. Inferni canines are expected to follow orders and act in the best interest of the clan, of course.
Leadership
In order to ascend to the Aquila rank in Inferni, a hopeful leader must share blood relation with the previous leader. The preferred heritage of leadership passes to a chosen heir -- the Aquila's sons or daughters. More distant relation may entitle one to Aquila-ship; however, since 2006, the line has passed from Kaena Lykoi to her son Gabriel de le Poer to his son Ezekiel de le Poer.
Puppies
Inferni's leadership does not require members to request permission or even give notification of their intent to conceive (OOCly, of course, you must abide by game rules regarding breeding -- but you knew that already c;). Parenthood and child-rearing are perfunctorily performed in Inferni, bearing little special significance to the clan. The parents are usually the most celebratory, along with their closest relatives.
Wolves
Most of Inferni is prejudiced against wolves, though if a wolf acts ambivalent toward or even curious about coyotes, most of Inferni will treat them respectfully, with varying degrees of standoffishness.
A smaller number of them will be outright nasty to wolves regardless of that wolf's feelings toward coyotes. There are one or two coyotes within Inferni that will attack with little or no provocation whatsoever, but Inferni members tend toward neutrality until challenged, especially on neutral territory.
Border Decor
Inferni decorates its borders with skulls, bones, and other fearsome decorations. Traditionally, these items are painted red, and serve to ward off potential trespassers. This tradition was imported to Inferni thanks to Gabriel de le Poer, who discovered this practice in the Scintilla War and brought it home to Inferni upon his return.
Latin Phrases
Certain phrases in Latin are repeated throughout Inferni, many derived from an old book of quotes in the D'Neville mansion.
Oderint dum Metuant
"Let them hate, so long as they fear"
The official "pack motto". It comes from a collection of dialogues by Seneca the Younger; Gabriel found the book while in Halifax and it now resides in Inferni's library.
Ad Triaros Rediisse
"falling on the Triarii"
Basically, up a certain creek without a paddle. Falling back on the Triarii in a battle situation is a third line of defense and sign of desperation; thus, the phrase
Cave Canem
"Beware of the dog"
Beware of the outsiders and non-Infernians.
